Resistor Color Code Calculator

Decode resistor color bands to find resistance value, or input a resistance to see its color code. Supports 4-band and 5-band resistors.

Select colors for each band:

How to Read Resistor Color Codes

  1. Band 1: First significant digit.
  2. Band 2: Second significant digit.
  3. Band 3 (Multiplier): Number of zeros to add.
  4. Band 4 (Tolerance): Accuracy of the value.

FAQ

How do I know which end to read from?

The tolerance band (gold/silver) is always the last band. Start reading from the opposite end. The first band is usually closer to one end of the resistor body.
